Caring House
moss+ross role: annual fund planning and staff guidance (2010)

Caring House is a residential community in Durham providing adult cancer patients and accompanying caregivers with a comfortable, supportive, and affordable place to stay during outpatient treatment at the Duke Comprehensive Cancer center. Since its opening in 1992, Caring House has provided a home for nearly 70,000 nights to over 6,000 guests.

Duke University Fuqua School of Business
moss+ross role: program development and planning, on-site interim leadership, and faculty and staff training (two contracts, 2009)

Duke’s Fuqua School of Business is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools, and is especially known as a leader in global business education. Its 14-person Development and Alumni Relations team maintains a worldwide presence and manages a sophisticated multi-million dollar fundraising program.

Durham County Library
moss+ross role: campaign feasibility study (2009-10)

The Durham County Public Library’s mission is to provide to the entire community books, services, and other resources that inform, inspire learning, cultivate understanding and excite the imagination. Its foundation board partners with staff to lead the fundraising and development effort. With its new regional expansion, nearly every Durham citizen will have a library within five miles. Exciting plans are underway for renovation of the main library.

Durham Habitat for Humanity
moss+ross role: development office study and plan (2009)

Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian Housing Ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world by making decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Durham’s Habitat chapter has partnered with homeowners and the community to build more than 200 houses in its 25-year history.

The Hill Center
moss+ross role: partnered with the Board to prepare a five-year strategic plan (2009-2010)

The Hill Center transforms students with learning differences into confident, independent learners through its half-day school, tutoring, and summer programs in Durham. Additionally, The Hill Center offers extensive outreach programs and a comprehensive teacher training program and serves as a community and regional resource for parents, teachers, and educational administrators.

IntraHealth International
moss+ross role: development office audit, annual fund planning, executive and staff cultivation training, and retreat facilitation (four contracts, 2009 and 2010)

IntraHealth has served the public health needs of developing countries for almost 30 years. With origins as part of the University of North Carolina, IntraHealth is now an independent non-profit based in Chapel Hill. IntraHealth’s 600 employees have worked in more than 50 developing countries to mobilize and train local health care workers in maternal and child health, HIV/Aids, and malaria programs with support from major US government and foundation grants.

North Carolina Museum of History
moss+ross role: retreat facilitation (two contracts, 2009 and 2010)

The Museum collects and preserves artifacts and other historical materials relating to the history and heritage of North Carolina in a local, regional, national, and international context to assist people in understanding how the past influences the present. The Museum Associates support this work both in Raleigh and across the state.

Oxford Centre for Mission Studies
moss+ross role: on-site development training (2009)

The mission of the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies is to equip leaders, nurture scholars, and enable institutions for ministry particularly in the churches of the Global South. Located in Oxford, England, its foundation lies in its vision of the global church engaged in effective holistic mission, especially among the poor and marginalized.

Roanoke Island Historical Association
moss+ross role: campaign planning (2009)

The Roanoke Island Historical Association produces The Lost Colony, an outdoor historical drama which has been in production for 70 years. RIHA is a non-profit whose mission is to celebrate the history of the first English colonies on Roanoke Island, NC, and to honor the founders of The Lost Colony symphonic drama through drama, education, and literature.

Ronald McDonald House of Durham
moss+ross role: campaign feasibility study (2010)

The Ronald McDonald House of Durham provides housing for seriously ill children and their families in a home-like setting while the child is receiving treatment at Duke Hospital. Founded locally in 1980, the house welcomes nearly 800 families per year and is working on plans to expand to be able to serve more families.

Santa Catalina School
moss+ross role: on-site volunteer training (2009)

Santa Catalina is an independent Catholic school in California, dedicated to the education of young people by giving careful consideration to the individual abilities and potential of each student. Located on the Monterey Peninsula, 125 miles south of San Francisco, Santa Catalina school offers education to boys and girls Pre-K through Grade 8, and all girls boarding and day Grades 9-12.

SEEDS
moss+ross role: board retreat fundraising training (2010)

SEEDS is in its 15th year as an education-based community collaborative. It started with a garden in Northeast Central Durham, and now manages space at the Durham Farmers Market and Leigh Farm as well. Its mission is to educate youth and adults through gardening and growing food while cultivating respect for life, for earth and for each other.

Triangle Day School
moss+ross role: campaign feasibility study (2009)

Triangle Day School is a co-educational, independent, non-sectarian, non-profit school in Durham serving children in grades K-8. Founded in 1991, Triangle Day School currently has an enrollment of over 150 students and recently opened new sports fields across from its original campus.

Triangle Family Services
moss+ross role: board development, training and recruitment (2009)

Since 1937, Triangle Family Services has been helping families and individuals overcome life’s challenges by giving them the tools they need to move away from crisis and into more stable and healthy life situations. The more than 5,000 individuals and families they help each year live and work throughout the Raleigh-Durham metro region.

Urban Ministries of Durham

The mission of Urban Ministries of Durham is to provide food, clothing, shelter, and supportive services to our neighbors in need. Since its founding in 1983, this agency has continually adapted to meet our community’s needs.

Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center
moss+ross role: board development training (2010)

Wake Forest University School of Medicine occupies a firm position among the best medical schools in the United States. Teaching excellence in clinical medicine and research, the school is an integral part of the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as well as the communities of the Winston-Salem/Greensboro area.

YMCA of the Triangle Area
moss+ross role: development audit for YMCA; feasibility study, planning and campaign management for the camps (2010)

The YMCA of the Triangle Area has been serving area families for 152 years. More than 60,000 individuals participate in programs at its 15 facilities and three resident camps. We are pleased to be working with both the central administrative team and with Camp Seagull and Camp Seafarer in eastern North Carolina.
